PYO Blueberries: We will be open this Saturday 17th December, from 8.30 am.

Please note that our main early variety of berries, Marimba, has a very light crop this year, so there will not be as many berries available as we usually have before Christmas. The other variety which is ready now, Reka, have lots of berries, but unfortunately we don't have very many bushes of them.

I'm not sure exactly how many days we will be able to be open next week in the run up to Christmas. We expect to be able to open at least Tuesday 20th Dec and Saturday 24th Dec. Hopefully we will get another picking day in there as well. Please check here for the latest updates.

All is not lost for those of you who want to stock up on blueberries for the whole year. Our later varieties of berries look great, so in January we will have lots of fruit available.

The price this year is the same as last, $12/kg. Sorry no EFTPOS.

Cheers,

Vivienne and Jon

A few things to note:

Welcome to the 2015-2016 blueberry season!!

A few things to note:

The berries are $12/ kg this year. Cash sales only no EFTPOS. If we have the time we will have a small quantity of picked berries available but generally we just do PYO.

Please bring your own picking containers if possible, ice cream containers are ideal as we know the weight, or you can use ours then we will put them into a plastic bag for you.

Children are very welcome - we love to have them around but please keep an eye on them because this is a farm and there are hazards.

We encourage you to sample the berries you are picking but please be reasonable.

We have enlarged the car park this year - bear with us as modify the arrangement of the car parks to make this work most efficiently. Please be respectful of our neighbours if parking on the road and take great care coming and going onto Paton Rd.

The best time for picking is generally first thing in the morning. At this time of the year we have a lot of berries but at other times we will get picked out by later in the day and have to close.

Blueberry picking tips - go for the darkest ones! if you end up with a few pink ones in your container, that's ok - they will ripen up a little if not refrigerated straight away. At this early stage of the season they are a bit here and there to pick but later you will be able to pick a few at a time. There's no getting away from the fact that they are small and will take a wee bit of time to pick so allow yourself some time.

We really hope you enjoy your time at Fuchsiadale Blueberries. Relax, forget the busyness, listen to the birds and enjoy your trip to the country!!

See you soon! Vivienne and Jon
